GRAN TURISMO HD - GRAN TURISMO 5

OFFICIAL GAME RELEASE DATE: 30TH March 2008

Originally released as Vision Gran Turismo, at E3 2006, Gran Turismo HD (High Definition) was to be Polyphony Digital’s first implimentation of their acclaimed Gran Turismo racing series, on the newly released Playstation 3.

During late December 2006, Sony released confirmation that Gran Turismo HD would now be released as a demo only, for Playstation 3 owners. The decision was made to concentrate on the commercial release of Gran Turismo 5. The free GTHD demo was officially released on the Playstation Store on December 24, 2006. The demo version is to feature ten cars and two layouts of a single track.

GTHD / Gran Turismo 5 bring numerous new additions not previously seen in past versions of the Gran Turismo series, namely:

Ferrari, amongst others, are making a debut appearance in a Gran Turismo game. Other debut appearances include Porsche (replacing RUF) and Lamborghini. All three have been on the wish lists of many a GT veteran since the series began. I

Initially a plethora of Online Multiplayer features were to be released with GTHD, including such online features as an online garage, head to head racing, friends list, lobby, bulletin board, spectator mode, team and club builder, and photo album. However the majority of these features have been postponed until the official release of Gran Turismo 5, scheduled for european release in March 2008.

Another much anticipated, and lobbied for, addition to the Gran Turismo series, to be provided in the 2007 update for GTHD and in official Gran Turismo 5 title, is car damage. Previous versions in the series haven’t included this feature. Also you can expect to see dynamic weather and day/night conditions.

Load times will be impacted on due to taking advantage of the processing power of the Playstation 3, including the preinstalled HDD.
